Give Hope To The Children
Over the last two years, IonWays customers, distributors and staff made contributions which were matched by IonWays corporate to build the water system for the First High School for Girls in a refugee camp in Eastern Sudan. Contributions totaled just over $18,000. The school accommodates up to 340 girls, with 6 classrooms, 2 bathrooms, a library and 2 administrative offices. Because the High School is in the center of the refugee camps, the new water system also provides clean drinking water for the entire camp. Without it there would be no school, no education and no hope.
Healing Bridges (HB) is a 501C3 non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference! Zebiba Shekhia, founder of Healing Bridges, was born and raised in the civil war torn East African country of Eritrea. There are over 500,000 Eritrean refugees in Eastern Sudan; most are women and children. The UN calls them the Forgotten Refugees. The camps have been there for over 40 years. Fleeing as a refugee herself Zebiba resolved to one day make a difference.

The children of the camps are only provided education up to the eighth grade. Most of the children are high school age girls. Healing Bridges commitment is to give the girls in the camp the necessary tools to break the cycle of poverty and provide them an opportunity for a better life. Healing Bridges has now opened the First High School for Girls, but the need for funding continues. They need books, supplies and funds to pay for teachers and staff.
In addition to the building of the school, HB also supports two primary schools, in the town of Kassala and provides them with supplies, classroom chairs, and desks. They also supply water storage tanks for both schools, as well as ensure clean drinking water for the children.
In the middle of the dry desert Healing Bridges is a well spring of hope, that the children can be empowered through education to change themselves and change the course of their people. Even though our corporate matching-funds campaign has been fulfilled, you can still help Healing Bridges make a difference! Help give them hope -
