Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)
Discovered in 1987 by scientists at the University of Wisconsin Food Research Institute, CLA is a natural polyunsaturated fatty acid found in small quantities in some foods such as red meat and dairy products. The human body cannot produce CLA, yet studies indicate it is an essential component of good health.

CLA received widespread media attention in recent years when research proved its anticancer, anti-catabolic and immune stimulating benefits. Studies suggest that CLA helps to reduce cholesterol and fatty accumulations in arteries and veins. Through a unique mechanism, CLA has also proved effective as a fat-burning agent which inhibits fat storage in the body. One study showed a 20% reduction in body fat and an increase in lean muscle with the regular use of CLA. More comprehensive studies are currently underway.

Due to changes in the way meat and dairy products are grown and processed over the past several decades, it is not possible to get adequate levels of CLA through diet alone. Therefore, supplementation is the wisest option. CLA is made through a proprietary process which converts the linoleic acid of safflower oil into conjugated linoleic acid. Safflower is currently the richest known source of linoleic acid.

Aloe Vera Gel
Dr. Wendell Winters, of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, referred to Aloe Vera as "a pharmacy in a plant." Thought to have originated in the warm, dry climates of Africa, scientific references to the healing properties of Aloe Vera date back more than 5000 years. Garcinia Cambogia Fruit Extract (Super Citrimax®)
Native to southern India, Garcinia Cambogia is a sweet, yellowish fruit used for centuries as a food preservative, flavoring agent, and digestive aid. The fruit, especially the rind, contains Hydroxycitric acid (HCA), a close relative of citric acid.

HCA is thought to impact carbohydrate and fat metabolism in the body by blocking the production of fat from excess calories consumed. Specifically, HCA appears to work peripherally in the upper digestive tract by suppressing fatty acid synthesis, thus decreasing body fat without altering body protein levels. HCA also seems to inhibit a key enzyme in order to reduce the production of fat from carbohydrates. However, HCA does not stimulate the central nervous system in order to burn calories. Garcinia Cambogia is thought to improve athletic endurance by promoting the manufacture of glucose.

Hydrolyzed Collagen Protein

Collagen is nature's most abundant protein polymer, making up more than one third of the body's protein. Collagen affects cell shape and differentiation, and is beneficial in the regeneration of broken bones and other wounds. Collagen, from the Greek, means "glue producing" and could rightly be considered the binding which holds the human body together.

Hydrolyzed collagen protein (HCP) is the chief structural protein that makes up connective tissues in the body such as skin, bones, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments. When broken down by enzymes, the protein becomes highly digestible provides beneficial effects on joint and bone health, skin health, and for weight management and athletic performance.

HCP has been used in Europe for decades as a dietary supplement and an alternative treatment for arthritis and osteoporosis. It is used as a general protein source in body building products and is also used to help athletes recover from exercise and sports-related injuries. No serious adverse side effects are known to exist for consumption of hydrolyzed collagen protein. (Supplementwatch.com 2002)

Pyruval Glycine
Pyruval Glycine (Pyruvic Acid combined with Glycine) is created in the body during the metabolism of carbohydrates and protein and plays a crucial role in the conversion of food to energy, in a process known as the Krebs or Citric Acid Cycle. Studies indicate Pyruvic Acid may accelerate fat loss by increasing cellular respiration. Moreover, Pyruvic Acid increases resting metabolic rate which may help reduce fat, even without exercise. Finally, Pyruvic Acid may improve exercise endurance, making it attractive to bodybuilders. Some preliminary studies indicate that Pyruvic Acid functions as an antioxidant, inhibiting the production of harmful free radicals.

Important: DO NOT CONFUSE PYRUVAL GLYCINE WITH CALCIUM PYRAVATE OR POTASSIUM PYRUVATE, which are not the same. Pyruval Glycine is more easily absorbed and utilized by the body.

Chromium (Polynicotinate)
An essential nutrient required for proper sugar and fat metabolism, chromium is present throughout the body with the highest concentration in the liver, kidneys, spleen, bone, brain, and muscle tissue. With an average 2 to 10 percent absorption rate, and with absorption rates thought to decline even further with age, Chromium is widely available in various supplemental forms including chromium picolinate, niacin-bound chromium (Chromium Polynicotinate), and chromium enriched yeast.

Organic chromium, such as Chromium Polynicotinate (CP), most closely mimics the biologically active form of chromium found in nature and is therefore more easily absorbed by the body. CP has been shown to help stabilize blood sugar levels and increase glucose metabolism, and is critically important in the synthesis of cholesterol, fats and proteins. Optimal chromium intake appears to decrease the amount of insulin required to maintain normal blood sugar, which also supports the body's metabolism of fats.

Inositol
Inositol is a naturally occurring nutrient, a simple carbohydrate, which plays an important role in preventing fats from collecting in the liver, and also aids in the breakdown of accumulated fats. Inositol is also thought to help reduce blood cholesterol, while promoting healthy hair growth.

Moreover, the presence of inositol aids in the conversion of energy in the body, which supports a healthy metabolism. Also called a brain food, inositol is a necessary nutrient for proper brain function. Some research indicates that increased levels of inositol may offer support in the management of depression, panic attacks, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The B group vitamins, vitamin E and C, as well as folic acid and linoleic acid are thought to increase the functioning of inositol. No toxic effects are known with recommended intake.

L-Carnitine
L-Carnitine is a naturally occurring amino acid which plays a vital role in the metabolism of fat. It functions as a transporter of fatty acids into the mitochondria, the metabolic furnace of the cell.

An adequate supply of l-carnitine is necessary for the maintenance of overall good health. L-carnitine aids in the release of stored body fat, tryglycerides, into the bloodstream for energy. Tryglycerides are the major source for the production of energy in the heart and skeletal muscles. L-Carnatine is, therefore, believed to increase energy levels for long-term aerobic activity. Moreover, L-carnitine is an important and beneficial factor in muscle contraction, regulation of protein balance and maintenance of a healthy heart.

L-Glycine
L-Glycine is an important amino acid, which is used by the body to build proteins. Comprising up to a third of the collagen in the human body, L-Glycine plays a key role in the development and quality of skeletal muscles, tissues and structural integrity, and is required for the synthesis of hemoglobin. Moreover, L-Glycine has been shown to slow muscle degeneration by supplying additional creatine, a compound present in muscle tissue. It is utilized in the construction of DNA and RNA. L-Glycine is essential for the synthesis of nucleic acids, bile acids and other nonessential amino acids in the body. As a major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain, L-Glycine has been used effectively in the management of manic depression, seizures, and hyperactivity. L-Glycine has been found to be useful in detoxification. It is safe and non-toxic.

MSM (Methyl Sulphonyl Methane)
Methyl Sulfonyl Methane (MSM) is a natural, organic sulfur compound found naturally in all living things and in particular in foods such as raw fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds. This form of organic sulfur, one of the most basic elements of life, is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body. It plays a critical role in the maintenance of proper pH balance in the body.

MSM is an important food and plays many roles in the body, including the stimulation of growth of healthy skin, hair and nails. It is utilized by the body for healthy connective tissues and joint function, proper enzyme activity and hormone balance, and proper immune function. MSM together with Vitamin C is vital to the creation and regeneration of healthy cells. Dr. Jacob's experience treating more than 18,000 patients with MSM offers clinical evidence of its efficacy. Moreover, Doctors Herschler and Jacob found that supplementation with MSM seemed to improve many conditions such as: allergies, asthma, emphysema, lung dysfunction, arthritis.

Niacin (Vitamin B3)
Niacin, part of the vitamin B complex, is a water-soluble vitamin. The water-soluble vitamins generally function to assist the activity of important enzymes such as those involved in the production of energy from carbohydrates and fats. Because of their solubility, frequent consumption is necessary to maintain healthy levels.

Niacin (also called nicotinic acid or niacinamide) is important for the release of energy from carbohydrates and fats, the metabolism of proteins, hormone balance, and in the formation of red blood cells. It is required for cell respiration and supports proper circulation and healthy skin, and as well as normal secretion of bile and stomach fluids. Symptoms such as canker sores, depression, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, halitosis, headaches, indigestion, insomnia, limb pains, loss of appetite, low blood sugar, muscular weakness, skin eruptions, and inflammation may suggest niacin deficiency.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is a water-soluble vitamin which acts as an antioxidant, helping to protect against the harmful effects of free radical damage. Specifically, Vitamin C protects LDL cholesterol from oxidative damage which can lead to heart disease. It is also thought that vitamin C may provide additional protection against heart disease by reducing the stiffness of arteries and the tendency of platelets to clump together. Ascorbic acid has been shown to improve nitric oxide activity, making it potentially important in lowering blood pressure and preventing spasms of arteries in the heart that could lead to heart attacks. Vitamin C is needed for the production of collagen in the body and plays an important role in wound healing. It acts as a natural antihistamine. It also aids in the formation of liver bile, helps to fight viruses, and seems to assist in the detoxification of alcohol and other toxic substances. Fatigue, easy bruising, and bleeding gums are indicators of Vitamin C deficiency.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCI)
Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) is a water-soluble vitamin required for the proper function of sugars, fats, and proteins in the body. It is also required for the proper growth and development of the brain, nerves, skin, and other tissues of the body. Vitamin B6 is needed for the conversion of tryptophan (an amino acid) to niacin (a vitamin). Since it is involved in protein metabolism and cellular growth, vitamin B6 is vitally important to the immune system, helping to maintain lymphoid organs, thymus, spleen, and lymph nodes that produce white blood cells. A deficiency in B6 may decrease antibody production and suppress immune responses. It is also needed for the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which are required for normal nerve cell communication. Vitamin B6 also helps maintain blood glucose within a normal range. When caloric intake is low the body may utilize Vitamin B6 to help convert stored carbohydrate or other nutrients to glucose in order to maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

Uva Ursi
Uva ursi, also known as bearberry because bears like eating the fruit, has been used medicinally as far back as the 2nd century. It is a trailing evergreen shrub that flourishes in alpine forests. Native Americans used it as a remedy for urinary tract infections; in fact, until the discovery of sulfa drugs and antibiotics, uva ursi was a common treatment for bladder and related infections.

Researchers have discovered that uva ursi's antibacterial properties, which can fight infection, are due to several chemicals, including hydroquinone. Bearberry also contains tannins that have astringent effects, helping to shrink and tighten mucous membranes in the body. That, in turn, helps reduce inflammation and fight infection. Uva Ursi is the natural diuretic most often used in herbal weight-loss formulas due to its efficacy in helping with fluid retention.

Stevia Leaf Extract
Stevia refers to small green plant native to South America, and also to the sweetener extracted from that plant. Also referred to as yerba dulce or "honey leaf," Stevia been used for centuries as a natural sweetener which enhances to nutritive value of other plants and herbs, when used in combination. Studies have found that stevia's rich protein, fiber, vitamin and mineral composition has great benefit to human health. Stevia can help regulate blood sugar, is helpful for hypoglycemia and diabetes because of its ability to restore pancreatic function, and tends to regulate blood pressure in cases where it has been elevated. Stevia has also been shown to inhibit the growth and reproduction of some bacteria and other infectious organisms, including the bacteria that cause tooth decay and gum disease. It has been reported to improve digestion and gastrointestinal function, as well as smooth upset stomachs. Stevia is a popular component in some weight loss products due to it ability to reduce cravings for sweets and fatty foods, and because of its natural sweetening effect without calories or carbohydrates. It has also been said to reduce cravings for tobacco and alcohol. After nearly 1500 years of use in Paraguay and 30 years in Japan, there have been no reported harmful side effects.
